What people mean by a Seedance 2.0 alternative

"Seedance 2.0 alternative" covers three different questions, and mixing them up is why most comparison pages are useless:

  1. The same model somewhere else. Seedance 2.0 is available through more than one platform, and the platform decides the price, the queue and the limits.
  2. A different model that solves the same job. Google's Veo 3.1 is the obvious comparison when audio and prompt adherence matter more than the specific vendor.
  3. A different billing shape. Some people are not shopping for a model at all; they are trying to stop paying a monthly subscription for a project that ran for three weeks.

This page answers all three with published prices, read on 21 October 2026, and it says plainly where the other two options are the better buy.

What the published prices actually say

Google Veo 3.1, from the Gemini API pricing page. All rates are per second of video, with audio included, and Google lists no free tier:

  • Veo 3.1 Standard: $0.40 per second at 720p and 1080p; $0.60 per second at 4K.
  • Veo 3.1 Fast: $0.10 per second at 720p; $0.12 at 1080p; $0.30 at 4K.
  • Veo 3.1 Lite: $0.05 per second at 720p; $0.08 at 1080p; 4K is not supported.

At 12 seconds, that is about $4.80 on Standard, $1.20 on Fast and $0.60 on Lite at 720p, before any markup a reseller adds.

Runway, from its pricing page:

  • Free: 125 one-time credits.
  • Standard: $15 per month ($12 per month billed annually) with 625 credits per month.
  • Pro: $35 per month ($28 per month billed annually) with 2,250 credits per month.
  • Max: $95 per month ($76 per month billed annually) with 9,500 credits per month.
  • Listed video rates: Gen-4.5 at 60 credits per 5 seconds, Aleph 2.0 at 140 credits per 5 seconds, Seedance 2.0 Pro at 1080p at 160 credits per 4 seconds, and Seedance 2.0 Fast at 116 credits per 4 seconds.

This workspace, from its pricing page:

  • Try: $9.99 per month billed $119.88 yearly, 500 credits per month (6,000 credits per year).
  • Pro: $29.99 per month billed $359.88 yearly, 2,000 credits per month.
  • Max: $99.99 per month billed $1,199.88 yearly, 8,000 credits per month.
  • Video generation runs on Seedance 2.0 in text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video modes. Paid plans list no watermark and a commercial use license with a Business Certificate.
  • The exact task cost is shown before generation and changes with model, duration, resolution, reference inputs and settings.

What a credit is worth on each platform

Plan prices and credit bundles are not comparable until you divide. This is arithmetic on the published list prices above, not a quote from either vendor.

Platform and planPrice usedCreditsCost per credit
This workspace, Try (annual)$119.88 per year6,000 per yearAbout $0.020
This workspace, Pro (annual)$359.88 per year24,000 per yearAbout $0.015

Runway Standard (monthly)$15 per month625 per monthAbout $0.024
Runway Pro (monthly)$35 per month2,250 per monthAbout $0.016
Runway Max (monthly)$95 per month9,500 per monthAbout $0.010

Two conclusions follow, and both are useful:

  • At the entry tier, the credit denominations are close: about two cents a credit on both platforms.
  • Runway's top plan has the cheapest credit in this table, which matters if you generate at volume and can use its catalog. Ignoring that would make this page dishonest.

The per-clip cost still depends on the model and duration. Runway lists Seedance 2.0 Fast at 116 credits per 4 seconds. At $0.024 per credit on Standard that is about $2.78 per 4-second clip; at $0.010 on Max it is about $1.16. This workspace shows its own task cost in the composer before you submit, because it varies with duration, resolution and reference inputs.

Cost per finished clip, with the assumptions stated

A cost-per-clip table is only honest if it names the clip. Use a 12-second, 720p, single-generation clip as the reference:

  • Veo 3.1 Standard: $0.40 × 12 = $4.80.
  • Veo 3.1 Fast: $0.10 × 12 = $1.20.
  • Veo 3.1 Lite: $0.05 × 12 = $0.60.
  • Runway with Seedance 2.0 Fast (four-second clips, so three generations to cover twelve seconds): 116 × 3 = 348 credits, about $8.35 on Standard and $3.48 on Max.
  • This workspace: the composer shows the credit cost for the selected model, duration and resolution before you generate. Divide that number by your plan's cost per credit from the table above.

The lesson is that the cheapest headline rate is not automatically the cheapest finished clip. A model that needs three attempts to satisfy the brief costs three times the list price, and a platform with a slow queue costs your time.

Billing shape: which one fits your calendar

  • Per-second API billing suits teams with a pipeline. You pay for exactly what you generate, you can automate it, and there is no unused quota. The catch is that you own the integration, the retries and the key management.
  • A subscription with credits suits regular creators who want several models behind one bill. You get a catalog and a workspace, and you accept that an unused month is money spent anyway.
  • A workspace with a purchased balance suits project work. You top up when a project starts, the balance stays until you spend it, and there is no renewal to remember.

None of these is a trick. The mistake is buying a subscription for a two-week project, or buying an API integration for a one-off clip.

Where Google Veo 3.1 is the better choice

  • You need Veo specifically. No other platform in this comparison serves it.
  • You want per-second billing without a subscription. The API bills by the second, and the Lite tier is cheap enough for drafts.
  • You need 4K. Google lists 4K rates for Standard and Fast; the other options here do not publish a 4K price at all.
  • Audio is part of the deliverable. The published per-second rates include audio.
  • You already build against Google's API. One vendor, one key, one billing relationship.

Where Runway is the better choice

  • You want several video models under one subscription. Its catalog spans Gen-4.5, Aleph 2.0 and Seedance 2.0, so you can compare models without opening three accounts.
  • You generate enough to reach the Max tier. At about $0.010 per credit, the top plan is the cheapest credit in this table.
  • You want a free trial before paying. The free plan includes 125 one-time credits.
  • You want editing and generation in one product. Runway's tooling goes beyond a single generation endpoint.

Where this workspace is the better choice

  • You want Seedance 2.0 workflows without an API integration. Text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video are modes in one workspace, not three products to wire together.
  • You want the task cost before the click. The composer shows the credit cost for the selected model, duration and resolution before you generate.
  • You want video and stills in one balance. The same account covers the AI video generator and the AI image generator, so thumbnails and source frames do not need a second subscription.
  • You want free preparation tools. The browser tools convert, compress, crop and trim locally without consuming credits or uploading files.
  • You want a paid plan with a commercial licence and no watermark. Those are listed on the pricing page, subject to the Terms.

Who this page is for, and who it is not for

It is for someone who has a specific clip in mind and is deciding where to generate it: a short product video, an image-to-video animation from a still, or a reference-guided sequence for social.

It is not for teams that need a full production pipeline with asset management, review workflows and multi-user billing. Those needs are real, and none of the three options here is a complete answer to them.

It is also not a claim that Seedance 2.0 and Veo 3.1 produce equivalent results. They are different models with different strengths, and no shared public benchmark ranks them on the same brief. The only honest test is your own.

A test protocol you can run this week

  1. Write one brief you would actually ship: subject, camera move, lighting, duration and aspect ratio.
  2. Generate it on two of the three options, at the same duration and resolution.
  3. Count the attempts each one needed before you got a usable clip. Multiply by the per-clip price; that is the real cost.
  4. Watch the result at normal speed on a phone, not frame by frame on a monitor. Most viewers will see it on a phone.
  5. Keep the prompt and the settings in a note. When you compare again next month, you want the same brief, not a memory of it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this page affiliated with ByteDance, Google, or Runway?

No. AI Video Chat is an independent workspace with its own accounts, credits and support. It does not act for any model vendor, and it does not issue rights releases on their behalf.

What is the cheapest Seedance 2.0 option in this comparison?

It depends on how you buy. Runway lists Seedance 2.0 Fast at 116 credits per 4 seconds with credits priced between about $0.010 and $0.024 each depending on the plan. This workspace sells monthly credit plans from $9.99 per month billed annually ($119.88 per year for 6,000 credits). Google's API does not list Seedance 2.0 at all, so there is no like-for-like per-second price to compare with Veo 3.1.

How much does Veo 3.1 cost per clip?

Google's published API rates are $0.40 per second for Veo 3.1 Standard at 720p or 1080p, $0.10 per second for Fast at 720p, and $0.05 per second for Lite at 720p, with audio included. A 12-second clip is therefore about $4.80 on Standard, $1.20 on Fast, or $0.60 on Lite before any platform markup.

Does this workspace use Seedance 2.0 or Veo 3.1?

This workspace's public video generator is built around Seedance 2.0, with text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video modes. Veo 3.1 is Google's model and is not offered here.

Do I need a subscription to generate video here?

Generation requires purchased credits or an existing account balance. You can browse the public pages and use the free browser tools without paying; the free tools run locally in the browser and do not consume hosted credits.

Which option includes commercial rights?

This workspace's paid plans list a commercial use license and Business Certificate. Runway and Google publish their own terms for their plans and API, and those terms differ, so read the vendor's current terms before you publish. No comparison table can substitute for the contract you agree to.

How should I choose between the three?

Pick by the model you need and the billing shape that matches your calendar. If you need Veo 3.1's audio and quality profile, buy it from Google. If you want one subscription that exposes several video models, Runway spreads credits across its catalog. If you want Seedance 2.0 workflows with credits and a workspace around them, this site is the shorter path.
